Vegetable Roll
The mix vegetable roll, embodies a delightful blend of flavors and textures. Imagine a soft, paratha-like wrap filled with a colorful assortment of thinly sliced vegetables- crisp carrots, vibrant bell peppers, and tender cabbage-all blended to perfection with aromatic spices like garam masala and a hint of tang from tomato and chilli sauces. The slight crunch of the vegetables contrasts beautifully with the softness of the roti, enhanced by the earthy taste of ginger and garlic.
Ingredients
- Sliced Onion – 1 big
- Carrot-thinly sliced
- Bell Pepper Capsicum – thinly sliced
- Cabbage – thinly sliced
- Lemon Juice – 2-3 drops
- Rock Salt – a pinch
- Flour Maida – 1 cup
- soya chunks 1 1/2 cup
- Water as required
- Ginger and Garlic Paste – 1/2 tsp
- Garam Masala – 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Tomato Sauce
- Red Chilli Sauce – 1 tsp
- Soya Sauce – 1/4 tsp
- Chaat Masala
- Oil-for cooking
Instructions
- Preparation:
- boil soya chunks and drain the water after
- Vegetable Mix:
- Heat 2-3 tbsp oil in a pan.
- Add sliced onion and sauté briefly.
- Add ginger and garlic paste, sauté for a minute.
- Add all vegetables (carrot, bell pepper, cabbage).
- add the soya chunks
- Season with salt (carefully, as some salt was used in dough).
- Cover and cook on low-medium heat for a few minutes until vegetables are slightly cooked.
- Add garam masala, chilli sauce, and soya sauce. Mix well.
- Turn off heat and let it cool down.
- Dough Preparation:
- In a mixing bowl, take 1 cup all- purpose flour.
- Add a pinch of salt, mix well.
- Add 1 tsp oil and mix using your hands.
- Gradually add water and knead gently to form a soft dough (similar to roti or paratha dough).
- Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- Making the Roti/Chapati:
- Divide the rested dough into equal portions and roll each into a ball.
- Roll out each ball into a round shape (like a roti or chapati), ensuring it’s of paratha-like thickness.
- Heat a pan and add 2-3 tsp oil.
- Cook each rolled-out dough on the pan, flipping when it starts to puff up.
- Cook both sides until light brown, applying a little oil on each side.
- Remove from pan and repeat for remaining dough portions.
- Assemble
- Take one cooked roti/chapati.
- Spread some tomato sauce on one side.
- Place a portion of the prepared vegetable mix on one side of the roti.
- Garnish with prepared sliced onion and sprinkle chaat masala.
- Carefully fold the roti to form a roll.
- Serve:
- Your delicious mix vegetable roll is ready to be served.
